Lorenzo is the Founder of Finanz - The First Super App That Allows Users To Learn How To Manage, Save, And Invest Their Money All In One Place. He has taken the challenge to answer our 20 Truth Questions, For us to gain some insight, And learn the Truth about the person behind the venture.
My TRUTH Story:
1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN THE THIRD PERSON TO A CROWD OF 10,000+ PEOPLE?
Lorenzo Perotta is a 21-year-old young man, born in a small town in the province of Milan (Vanzaghello).
From an early age, he has shown great curiosity and energy, with which he tackles every challenge life throws at him. At the age of 18, driven by his curiosity, he became passionate about the world of finance and investments.
He discovered that there is a significant problem in Italy and worldwide: the lack of financial education. Thus, he decided to take on the challenge of solving this problem by creating Finanz, the first super app that allows users to learn how to manage, save, and invest their money all in one place.
2. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRUTH FOUNDER?
In my opinion, being a Truth Founder means always ensuring transparency to my customers and collaborators, both in good times and bad. I believe this is the only way to build a real, human relationship based on trust, not convenience.
3. WHAT EVENT OR EVENTS HAPPENED TO YOU THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A FOUNDER?
In 2020, during the pandemic, the markets were collapsing, and my father asked me for advice, "Should I keep or sell all my stocks?" I naively told him to sell. The markets grew by 100% within a year, and my father never asked me for advice again.
This mistake led me to study the world of finance, develop a passion for it, and consequently discover the problem of financial education.
4. WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE & RITUAL? In the morning, I don't have a real ritual: I get up at six, take a shower, sometimes have breakfast, and then head out to go to the office or to meet potential investors or clients.
5. WHAT MANTRA,QUOTE,LINE OR PHRASE DO YOU SAY OFTEN TO INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE YOURSELF? "Le cose o si fanno bene o non si fanno", which in italian means: "Do things at your best. If you don't, don't do anything"
6. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR VENTURE? I believe people should take an interest in Finanz primarily to solve their financial management problems, and also because we are a group of twenty-year-olds. It's not often, especially in Italy, that you see young people so passionate and capable of making a difference in their own community.
7. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE ONE TO MAKE YOUR VENTURE A SUCCESS?
I believe I am an excellent guide for young people because I have always prioritized their well-being, striving to tailor the solutions we offer to their characteristics and talents.
Furthermore, I am obsessed with the success of Finanz, and I can't go to sleep until I have ensured that I have completed all my tasks and checked the results of the day for the team.
8. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR VENTURE? ( START WITH: IMAGINE A WORLD... WHAT IF... WE WILL BE... )
Imagine a world where people are more serene and aware about their money, where economic well-being for everyone is no longer a mirage, and where the possibility of thinking about one's future is no longer frightening. If all this becomes possible, I believe Finanz can be a fundamental tool to help people achieve it.
9. ANSWER THESE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE - I BELIEVE... I DON'T BELIEVE... I believe in sacrifice.
I don't believe in complaints.
I believe in people.
I don't believe in a predetermined destiny.
I believe in transparency.
I don't believe in falsehood.
10. WHAT'S ONE DECISION YOU MADE AS A FOUNDER THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR JOURNEY? When I decided to start writing fearlessly to people I didn't know directly or indirectly, thanks to this daily practice, I was able to meet my best investors and collaborators.
11. WHAT DO YOU REGARD AS YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS PERSONALLY & AS A FOUNDER? Given that I am just at the beginning of my journey, I believe that one of the greatest successes I have achieved as a founder, and personally, has been surrounding myself with people I respect and who have great respect and trust in me, both peers my age and those with many years of experience.
12. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY? What I love about myself is my positivity, my ability to humbly challenge myself and learn by doing, and my tenacity, which others might not appreciate, but it is the one thing that has truly allowed me to achieve these results, and I believe it will continue to guide me in my life.
13. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU CAN IMPROVE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT BY NOW?
I certainly haven't yet perfected my ability to listen to others and think carefully about the steps to take. I am very instinctive, and while this initially generates a lot of enthusiasm and speed of execution, I now need to adapt to the new situation to build securely together with many people.
14. WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED OR GIVEN, OR BOTH?
Always Think Bigger: if you have a mediocre vision of yourself or your product, you will only be mediocre. Thinking big gives you the possibility to become great.
15. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 - 10 BEING THE BEST. HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU AND YOUR TRUTH STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY YOUR COMMUNITY? ( WHY NOT 10? ) I believe that my story, on a scale from one to ten steps, is only known and understood at the second step: We haven't yet begun to lay the first stone. When the time comes, we will speak up and make sure everyone becomes passionate about our journey.
16. WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY? I am a football player and a Milan supporter, yet one of the people I admire the most is Javier Zanetti, the former captain of Inter. I have always admired his fairness, determination, and calmness.
Now that he no longer plays but is a manager, I appreciate his humility and his ability to reinvent himself even in his forties after a prestigious career.
17. DESCRIBE YOUR VENTURE - ELEVATOR PITCH STYLE?
Finanz is the first super financial app designed to enable everyone to learn how to manage, save, and invest their money easily and accessibly.
We released the first version of the application in open beta, achieving 15,000 downloads and an average of 3,000 active users per month for the first 12 months.
We are now preparing for the launch of the second version of the app and have raised €250,000 from private investors, with the goal of closing the first round at €1 million by December of this year.
18. WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT MISSION STATEMENT OR MESSAGE + MARKET FIT FOR YOUR VENTURE?
Our mission is to provide everyone with the necessary tools to manage, save, and invest their money easily and accessibly, thereby improving people's financial well-being.
We have organized numerous interviews and live events with people from all walks of life. In every case, we were surprised by how people struggled to talk about financial taboos and their situations, admitting they'd love to learn how to manage their finances properly. However, until now, no one has ever taught them how to do it.
19. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO TO UNWIND AFTER A LONG WORK DAY?
When I stop working, I enjoy playing football and talking to my girlfriend, Aina.
20. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU TREATED YOURSELF TO AND WHAT DID YOU CELEBRATE? The last thing I celebrated was my football team's promotion to Serie D, Magenta, and the last thing I regretted was not being able to retain a valuable person on the team.
