Gerald is the Founder of TreeScape Planet - A Conservation-Driven NGO Working To Restore Uganda’s Forests Through Tree Planting, Agroforestry, And Environmental Education. He has taken the challenge to answer our 20 Truth Questions, For us to gain some insight, And learn the Truth about the person behind the venture.



My TRUTH Story:

1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN THE THIRD PERSON TO A CROWD OF 10,000+ PEOPLE?

Gerald Senyonjo is a social entrepreneur, and the Founder of Treescape Planet, a non-governmental organization dedicated to restoring Uganda’s forests and ecosystems.


Born and raised in Uganda, Gerald has always been passionate about nature and community-driven sustainability efforts.


His work focuses on promoting afforestation, agroforestry, and reforestation to combat climate change, enhance biodiversity, and empower local communities.


2. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRUTH FOUNDER?

A Truth Founder is someone who leads with authenticity, passion, and resilience, staying true to their mission despite challenges.


They build ventures that not only generate impact but also inspire change.


3. WHAT EVENT OR EVENTS HAPPENED TO YOU THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A FOUNDER?

Growing up in Uganda, I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of deforestation - rivers drying up, biodiversity loss, and communities struggling to adapt.


Seeing how unsustainable land use was impacting people and nature pushed me to take action.


Founding Treescape Planet was my response to this crisis, with the goal of restoring lost forests and promoting sustainable livelihoods.


4. WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE & RITUAL? I start my mornings early with meditation to clear my mind and set my intentions for the day.


After that, I do some exercise - usually a quick workout or a run to stay energised. Then, I get ready and head out to my 9-to-5 job in engineering electronics, where I apply my problem-solving skills in a different way.


Even while working in engineering, my passion for environmental conservation remains a big part of my daily focus, and I dedicate time to Treescape Planet before and after work.


5. WHAT MANTRA,QUOTE,LINE OR PHRASE DO YOU SAY OFTEN TO INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE YOURSELF? Now is the time to reconnect, to take care of each other, by taking care of nature.


6. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR VENTURE? Because the survival of forests is tied to our survival.


Uganda is losing its forests at an alarming rate, we have lost close to 41% of the green cover which threatens biodiversity, water sources, and local livelihoods.


Treescape Planet is actively working to reverse this trend, and by supporting us, people are investing in a healthier planet and future.


7. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE ONE TO MAKE YOUR VENTURE A SUCCESS?

I have a deep personal connection to this mission.


My experience in environmental conservation, partnerships, and community engagement has positioned me to lead Treescape Planet with purpose.


I also have a strong network of like-minded individuals and organizations supporting our cause.


8. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR VENTURE? ( START WITH: IMAGINE A WORLD... WHAT IF... WE WILL BE... )

IMAGINE A WORLD where every child grows up with a tree they planted.


WHAT IF we restored Uganda’s lost forests and empowered thousands of farmers with sustainable agroforestry solutions?


WE WILL BE a leading force in conservation, ensuring that future generations inherit a greener, healthier planet.


9. ANSWER THESE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE - I BELIEVE... I DON'T BELIEVE... I believe that every tree planted is a step toward a more sustainable future.


I believe in the power of communities to drive change.


I don’t believe that deforestation is irreversible.


if we act now, we can restore what was lost.


10. WHAT'S ONE DECISION YOU MADE AS A FOUNDER THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR JOURNEY? Partnering with schools to introduce environmental education and tree planting programs.


This decision helped us reach thousands of young people, instilling in them a lifelong commitment to sustainability.


11. WHAT DO YOU REGARD AS YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS PERSONALLY & AS A FOUNDER? Personally, my greatest success is being able to turn my passion into action.


As a Founder, it’s seeing over 5,000+ trees planted through Treescape Planet and witnessing the impact on communities and biodiversity.


12. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY? My persistence.


Even when challenges arise, I stay focused on the bigger vision.


Conservation work is not easy, but I refuse to give up.


13. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU CAN IMPROVE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT BY NOW?

I need to delegate more. I tend to take on too much because I’m deeply invested in our mission, but I recognise that empowering my team will make Treescape Planet even stronger.


14. WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED OR GIVEN, OR BOTH?

Start small, but start now.


Progress happens when you take action, no matter how small the step.


15. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 - 10 BEING THE BEST. HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU AND YOUR TRUTH STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY YOUR COMMUNITY? ( WHY NOT 10? ) I’d say 6. People understand the importance of tree planting, but not everyone fully grasps the long-term impact of ecosystem restoration. We need to communicate that better.


16. WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?

Wangari Maathai - Her leadership in environmental activism, her courage, and her unwavering belief in community-driven reforestation are a huge inspiration.


17. DESCRIBE YOUR VENTURE - ELEVATOR PITCH STYLE?

Treescape Planet is a conservation-driven NGO working to restore Uganda’s forests through tree planting, agroforestry, and environmental education. We empower local communities - especially farmers and youth to champion sustainability while improving their livelihoods.


18. WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT MISSION STATEMENT OR MESSAGE + MARKET FIT FOR YOUR VENTURE?

Our Mission Statement: To restore degraded ecosystems and empower communities through afforestation, agroforestry, and sustainable land management.


Our Market Fit: Our work aligns with global sustainability goals (SDGs) and provides solutions to environmental challenges faced by governments, businesses, and communities.


19. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO TO UNWIND AFTER A LONG WORK DAY?

I enjoy hiking, listening to music, and spending time in nature - it helps me reconnect with the purpose behind my work.


20. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU TREATED YOURSELF TO AND WHAT DID YOU CELEBRATE? A vegetable soup! I am a work in progress, I believe every step brings us closer to another so I rarely celebrate wins rather I cheer up and keep moving forward.
