My TRUTH Story:
1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN THE THIRD PERSON TO A CROWD OF 10,000+ PEOPLE?
David Spickett is a Nottingham-born founder who turned his lifelong obsession with cars into a fast-scaling investment platform.
He’s building TheCarCrowd to give everyone the chance to co-own iconic vehicles and benefit from their appreciation without needing a garage or millions in the bank.
2. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRUTH FOUNDER?
A Truth Founder is someone who builds with purpose, speaks with honesty, acts with transparency and creates value for employees and customers beyond the balance sheet.
3. WHAT EVENT OR EVENTS HAPPENED TO YOU THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A FOUNDER?
Realising the investment world was full of gatekeepers and overly tradditional.
The lack of options for younger, more tech savvy generations created a need to harness the power of fintech to open new opportunities and allow people to invest in their passion.
4. WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE & RITUAL? Usually a nice cup of tea, walking the kids to school, Gym and then into the emails. I'll often mix in a trip to look at the 120 or so amazing cars we have just to inspire me for the day!
5. WHAT MANTRA,QUOTE,LINE OR PHRASE DO YOU SAY OFTEN TO INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE YOURSELF? I'd rather have to tame a lion than whip a donkey.
6. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR VENTURE? Because we’re making iconic cars investable for the passion, the return, and the legacy. No hype, just real ownership and real returns.
7. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE ONE TO MAKE YOUR VENTURE A SUCCESS?
Because I live it. I’ve been a petrolhead since age 5 and a strategist since day one.
I blend the emotion of cars with the logic of data.
8. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR VENTURE? ( START WITH: IMAGINE A WORLD... WHAT IF... WE WILL BE... )
Imagine a world where investing in a Ferrari is as easy as buying a stock.
What if thousands could co-own rare cars, watch them appreciate, and share the thrill?
We will be the global leader for collectible car investment.

I believe passion should be investable.
I believe trust and transparency will define the next generation of Founders.
I don’t believe in gatekeeping or old-school elitism.
10. WHAT'S ONE DECISION YOU MADE AS A FOUNDER THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR JOURNEY? Owning our own technology and committing to building a fully regulated structure, even though we aren't regulated.
It's harder to build, but the right foundation for long-term trust and transparency.
11. WHAT DO YOU REGARD AS YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS PERSONALLY & AS A FOUNDER? Personally, building a life I love around a passion I’ve had since childhood and being present for my family.
As a Founder, helping thousands of people co-own cars they never thought they could.
12. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY? My relentless optimism and tenacity, because I believe there’s always a solution, even when the road looks blocked.
13. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU CAN IMPROVE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT BY NOW?
Delegation. I'm still learning to let go of the little things.
Old habits from the bootstrapping days die hard.
14. WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED OR GIVEN, OR BOTH?
Start with who you’re building for, not what you want to build and always ask yourself, "what is the problem we are trying to solve".
15. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 - 10 BEING THE BEST. HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU AND YOUR TRUTH STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY YOUR COMMUNITY? ( WHY NOT 10? )
8. Because we’ve grown fast, and some still see us as ‘car guys’.
We’re building a financial fin-tech platform that happens to be fuelled by petrol, but we have a wider vision internally.
16. WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
Elon Musk, for betting the house (twice) and backing vision with skin in the game.

I like to drive something loud on a quiet road, or cook something with my kids with a good playlist on.
20. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU TREATED YOURSELF TO AND WHAT DID YOU CELEBRATE? A trip to Portugal to watch the British GT championship, behind the scenes, VIP the works to celebrate £1m in revenue in 2025.
