Meet Bradley Jones, founder of ThatRound. A former equity trader turned startup champion.
Hailing from Lincolnshire, Brad brings precision, energy, and deep market insight to the chaotic world of early-stage fundraising.
From J.P. Morgan’s trading floors to co-founding a globally scaled non-alcoholic drinks brand and investing in over a dozen startups, Brad now leads ThatRound: A platform built to radically streamline how UK startups access capital.
2. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRUTH FOUNDER?
A Truth Founder builds in alignment with their lived experience. They’re transparent about what works, honest about what doesn’t, and motivated by progress over perception.
3. WHAT EVENT OR EVENTS HAPPENED TO YOU THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A FOUNDER?
I co-founded a software business during university and saw it through to an international sale.
That lit the fuse. Since then, experiencing both sides founder and investor has given me the conviction that startups deserve better infrastructure, especially when it comes to fundraising.
4. WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE & RITUAL? Coffee first. Always. Then a non-negotiable half-hour with my wife before jumping into the day. It grounds me in what really matters.
5. WHAT MANTRA,QUOTE,LINE OR PHRASE DO YOU SAY OFTEN TO INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE YOURSELF? “Build what only you can build.”
6. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR VENTURE? Because the UK startup ecosystem is bleeding potential due to a fragmented, opaque fundraising process.
ThatRound exists to fix that making capital more accessible, more efficient, and ultimately, more founder-friendly.
7. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE ONE TO MAKE YOUR VENTURE A SUCCESS?
I’ve sat on both sides of the table. I understand the needs of founders, the demands of investors, and the inefficiencies of the current system.
ThatRound is a product of lived frustration and practical experience.
8. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR VENTURE? ( START WITH: IMAGINE A WORLD... WHAT IF... WE WILL BE... )
IMAGINE A WORLD where raising capital doesn’t take six months and a spreadsheet labyrinth.
WHAT IF every founder could instantly see their options and choose the best path forward?
WE WILL BE the infrastructure behind that vision connecting the entire funding market in one place.
9. ANSWER THESE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE - I BELIEVE... I DON'T BELIEVE... I believe fundraising should be efficient, transparent, and fair.
I don’t believe founders should have to sacrifice weeks of runway navigating Google and cold intros.
10. WHAT'S ONE DECISION YOU MADE AS A FOUNDER THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR JOURNEY? Quitting banking to go all-in on entrepreneurship. It removed my safety net and focused everything.
11. WHAT DO YOU REGARD AS YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS PERSONALLY & AS A FOUNDER? Personally: Finding my wife.
Professionally: Building and exiting a global startup before 30.
12. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY? I don’t romanticise problems I fix them. That bias toward action has served me well.
13. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU CAN IMPROVE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT BY NOW?
Delegating earlier. Like many founders, I’ve had to learn that holding on too long can slow progress.
14. WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED OR GIVEN, OR BOTH?
Received: “Startups die from perfection, not speed.”
Given: “Know the game you’re playing. Don’t get distracted by someone else’s rules.”
15. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 - 10 BEING THE BEST. HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU AND YOUR TRUTH STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY YOUR COMMUNITY? ( WHY NOT 10? )
8. The mission resonates, but the scale of the problem we’re solving isn’t always immediately obvious. It takes a little education which we’re doing.
16. WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
My dad - He taught me that hard work always pays off.
