Aron is the Founder of ContainerGrid - An Efficient Cost-Effective Way To Recover Valuable Resources Central To Rewiring & Decentralising Supply Chains. He has taken the challenge to answer our 20 Truth Questions, For us to gain some insight, And learn the Truth about the person behind the venture.
My TRUTH Story:
1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN THE THIRD PERSON TO A CROWD OF 10,000+ PEOPLE?
Raised in Brussels, with a background in economics. He is an alumni of HEC Paris, with an experience that spans four continents. Aron's journey is one of curiosity; He speaks five languages, has been enriched by some unique hobbies, and shares a deep passion for music.
Today, as the founder of ContainerGrid, he has embarked on a mission to accelerate the circular economy, fostering a world where nature and growth coexist harmoniously.
2. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRUTH FOUNDER? A Truth Founder embodies the spirit of enthusiasm and curiosity, dedicated to building a meritocratic and peaceful society where everyone lives freely with access to basic human rights.
It means finding your purpose early, engaging in socio-critical thinking, being generous, empathic, yet pragmatic. It's all about accepting the little bit of weirdness in all of us and turning it into strength.
3. WHAT EVENT OR EVENTS HAPPENED TO YOU THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A FOUNDER?
The event that inspired me to become a Founder was the economic and political decision by China to stop importing waste from Western countries. Along with my research into bio-based feedstocks for regenerative biofuels, and a belief in the need for large emitters to be regulated; My venture into decentralised supply chains enhanced by new technologies was inspired by a simple childhood memory I have of curiously exploring the contents of my trash bin at home.
4. WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE & RITUAL? My morning routine starts with a quick breath of fresh air outside, followed by a coffee and protein shake. I then cozy back under my blanket to get a hold of my friend's messages, delve into a book, or scan the news, ideally with the morning sun warming my face.
5. WHAT MANTRA,QUOTE,LINE OR PHRASE DO YOU SAY OFTEN TO INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE YOURSELF? "Enjoy the small things, be yourself, in our house we're all equal." This line keeps me grounded and reminds me to appreciate the everyday joys and the beauty of the world around me.
6. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR VENTURE? I'm passionate about our vision - to drastically increase global reuse and recycling rates. At ContainerGrid, we provide an efficient, cost-effective way for the industry to recover valuable resources, central to rewiring and decentralizing supply chains. We're about making a significant, positive impact on the planet, especially in regions and communities that have suffered most.
7. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE ONE TO MAKE YOUR VENTURE A SUCCESS?
I'd prefer others to judge my suitability for success, but see myself as a high-performing, empathic all-rounder. I trust my judgment in collaborating and hiring, I execute effectively and inspire my diverse team by committing to democratizing access to recycled materials.
8. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR VENTURE? ( START WTIH: IMAGINE A WORLD... WHAT IF...WE WILL BE... )
Imagine a world where companies aren't dependent on autocratic regimes for virgin materials, where polluting landfills are mined for new resources, where today's informal waste picking transforms into formal businesses, sparheading efforts to reclaiming biodiversity.
What if closed-loop economies would enable autonomous subcultures, where environmental stewardship is the norm.
We will leverage waste management and recycling infrastructures for balanced, equitable and regenerative means to living.
9. ANSWER THESE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE - I BELIEVE... I DON'T BELIEVE... I believe capitalism has been misused as a profit machine, rather than a means to coexist peacefully.
I believe it's imperative that the major polluters act now, in strong institutions to enforce this and the power of technology to reverse climate change.
I believe politicians should be better compensated to fight against immoral and unethical practices.
I am convinced that European societies have yet to appreciate the extent of value from engaging with heritages of African, Asian, and Latin American regions.
I believe that artificial general intelligence will significantly alter societal operations, accelerating advancements in transparency.
10. WHAT'S ONE DECISION YOU MADE AS A FOUNDER THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR JOURNEY? Choosing to bootstrap on a SaaS solution for the recycling and waste management industry to gain unique expertise before expanding our vision to a full platform model, setting the stage for what ContainerGrid has become today.
11. WHAT DO YOU REGARD AS YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS PERSONALLY & AS A FOUNDER? Personally, my greatest success lies in maintaining a strong relationship with my inner self and my brothers, loving my parents for who they are, and being a source of positivity for my friends.
As a founder, breaking into the opaque waste and recycling segment and discovering keys for disruption represents my most significant achievement.
12. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY? I value my genuineness and transparency in communication. I believe these traits foster trust and facilitate clearer understanding, which are crucial for both personal relationships and professional collaborations.
13. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU CAN IMPROVE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT BY NOW?
I'm working on becoming more mindful of my defensive mechanisms. Self-improvement is a continuous journey, and as a hardworking founder, it's challenging to always stay aligned with this aspect of personal growth.
14. WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED OR GIVEN, OR BOTH?
"Be proud of your achievements and enjoy the moment." This advice has stayed with me, reminding me to celebrate my successes and find joy in the journey, not just the destination.
15. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 - 10 BEING THE BEST. HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU AND YOUR TRUTH STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY YOUR COMMUNITY? ( WHY NOT 10? ) I'd rate it a 6. There's room to deepen the understanding and communication of my vision and the motivations behind ContainerGrid. While many grasp the essence of what we're trying to achieve, I should ensure that every stakeholder fully aligns with our core mission and values.
16. WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY? It's difficult to pinpoint just one individual. My admiration extends to a collective of people who exhibit strength, resilience, and compassion. Their collective qualities inspire me to push forward, innovate, and strive for a better world.
17. DESCRIBE YOUR VENTURE - ELEVATOR PITCH STYLE?
ContainerGrid supports production companies in implementing circular principles within their supply chains. Our handling and fulfillment platform enables closed-loop systems at scale, optimizing material processes and management, ensuring companies gain access to high-quality materials. Without ContainerGrid, bundling and controlling material flows, thereby and maintaining quality standards across R-strategies would be nearly impossible.
18. WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT MISSION STATEMENT OR MESSAGE + MARKET FIT FOR YOUR VENTURE?
Recycled materials are undervalued due to the current linear economy model.
ContainerGrid addresses this by enabling an efficient, cost-effective recovery of resources, promoting circular supply chains, and contributing to a greener planet for all.
19. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO TO UNWIND AFTER A LONG WORK DAY?
I enjoy jogging with sprint intervals, playing tennis, badminton or football, or listening to science podcasts while cooking a well-deserved meal. Socializing or reading helps me reflect and confront myself.
20. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU TREATED YOURSELF TO AND WHAT DID YOU CELEBRATE? After the inspiring ChangeNOW summit in Paris, I treated myself to calmer days to catch-up with friends, stroll through the beautiful streets, enjoy cuisines, and put on my dancing shoes.
Recently, I had the chance to discover South Indian states, where I found myself lost in time, a testament to the region's serene traditions and natural beauty.
