Alvaro is the Founder of CLOUS - A New Technology That Saves Hours Weekly For Hiring Teams By Automating Manual Tasks And Improving The Overall Hiring Process Using AI. He has taken the challenge to answer our 20 Truth Questions, For us to gain some insight, And learn the Truth about the person behind the venture.
My TRUTH Story:
1. INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN THE THIRD PERSON TO A CROWD OF 10,000+ PEOPLE?
Born in Cartagena and changed high schools 3 times; Alvaro moved to Madrid to study Aerospace Engineering. During his studies, He became too curious about everything else the world had to offer. He studied finance to learn how to invest, Design to create web pages and sell them to restaurants in his neighbourhood, And programming to get a great job. Learning these skills from different areas led him to join a climate-tech startup; Which he then went on to build his own AI hiring software company.
2. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF A TRUTH FOUNDER? A Truth Founder is a resilient founder that can share their failures without any hesitation.
3. WHAT EVENT OR EVENTS HAPPENED TO YOU THAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A FOUNDER?
Right after joining my first startup, I went to South Summit and became so impressed with the world-changing atmosphere of entrepreneurship.
4. WHAT IS YOUR MORNING ROUTINE & RITUAL? I have to have breakfast first.
5. WHAT MANTRA,QUOTE,LINE OR PHRASE DO YOU SAY OFTEN TO INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE YOURSELF? ''Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.''
6. WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOUR VENTURE? AI will be a huge disruption and result in a terrible labor market in the short term, And as a result we believe that the existing hiring systems don't work anymore. Our vision is that Clous becomes the engine of employment creation.
7. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THE ONE TO MAKE YOUR VENTURE A SUCCESS?
I come for vengeance to other tools. When I was a student, my experience was so terrible. I relentlessly never give up.
8. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE FOR YOUR VENTURE? ( START WTIH: IMAGINE A WORLD... WHAT IF...WE WILL BE... )
Imagine a world where you could interview great talent without friction. "Hey Siri, open a job for software developers and schedule the interviews for tomorrow" -- This is a recruiters dream.
9. ANSWER THESE AS MANY TIMES AS YOU LIKE - I BELIEVE... I DON'T BELIEVE... I believe talent is what drives an organization forward. We care a lot about candidates and know how big of a responsibility the recruiters have.
I believe data about a person before ever meeting them first causes unconscious biases.
I believe software will eat the world due to its capacity to deliver fast solutions to real problems.
I believe in responsibility and freedom, where you can create and achieve your results at the same time.
10. WHAT'S ONE DECISION YOU MADE AS A FOUNDER THAT COMPLETELY CHANGED THE COURSE OF YOUR JOURNEY? Being technology-first. When we detected the problems from our potential customers, we had to make a decision: Are we a staffing company? Or a technology? Many potential customers demanded staffing services from us. But we believe in delivering products with a disruptive technology.
11. WHAT DO YOU REGARD AS YOUR GREATEST SUCCESS PERSONALLY & AS A FOUNDER? Founding Clous; Developing a fully functional software product with zero budget.
12. WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY? My ability to be interested and learn about different areas.
13. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU CAN IMPROVE ABOUT YOURSELF, AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE NOT DONE IT BY NOW?
Everything can be improved. I haven't done it yet because I don't believe you can be perfect in every aspect just by hustling one day at a time. .
14. WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED OR GIVEN, OR BOTH?
"Why do you need that?" is just a simple question. Yet it's so fundamental that we overlook it and don't ever think about it. The best advice is one that you recognise yourself thanks to others asking the right questions.
15. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 - 10 BEING THE BEST. HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU AND YOUR TRUTH STORY IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD BY YOUR COMMUNITY? ( WHY NOT 10? ) 8. I'd love to get to know the Truth Founders community better.
16. WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY? I decided to become an entrepreneur when I realised Elon Musk spent 90% of his time with the lowest-level employees.
I always thought it was being in the 186th floor in a big office. I somehow rejected being a businessman, but I really want to solve problems.
17. DESCRIBE YOUR VENTURE - ELEVATOR PITCH STYLE?
Our platform saves hours weekly for hiring teams by automating manual tasks and improving the overall hiring process using AI. Qualifying candidates as soon as they apply, reduces time to hire for companies. We use disruptive technology, but without compromising in employer-candidate relations and experience.
18. WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT MISSION STATEMENT OR MESSAGE + MARKET FIT FOR YOUR VENTURE?
We believe there is a job for every person in this world. Our mission is to connect every person to a fulfilling job and democratize employment information to make it universally accessible.
19. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO TO UNWIND AFTER A LONG WORK DAY?
Visiting my friends and family. Reading an interesting book. Playing tennis or going to the gym. Working on side-projects or writing articles. Watching Netflix or Youtube.
20. WHAT WAS THE LAST THING YOU TREATED YOURSELF TO AND WHAT DID YOU CELEBRATE? I've been working full-time on Clous for the past 9 months, So I took a vacation day last week after our product launch. It was a great treat for me.
